Bed and breakfast rooms at the Villedieu estate |
Why Bed and Breakfast rooms ? - The Bed and Breakfast rooms Themselves - The Meals - The rates - The traditional architecture in Quercy - Barre d'orientation
Everything, on the Villedieu Estate was auspicious for a stay in Bed and Breakfast rooms :
Buildings of character, an exceptional site which overlooks the valley, a good table providing the Estate products, a private swimming pool
and because we enjoy receiving our visitors as our guests.
The Bed and Breakfast rooms of the Villedieu Estate are installed in restored farming buildings from the XVIIIth century (barn/stable - bread oven ...).
Therefore, they combine both the comfort of a good accomodation ( independant bedrooms, xxxx) and the authenticity linked to these buildings made with "pierres seches" (built without concrete, only with stones set on one another).
Built on a hill which overlooks the Célé valley, they offer both a quietness that some of our guests find amazing, and a situation in the wildness, an environment that nothing disfigures.
And the swimming pool, close to the bedrooms, is also a cosy element to be accounted for especially in the summertime.
Our guests have the choice between
Tradional and family cuisine meals, made from the local and estate products, and
More gastronomical tasting meals (be careful, in the Lot area, tasting does not mean sampling or new cuisine!) whose menus offer traditional, or half done, or fried foie gras, cassoulet, truffles, duck fillets etc...

One of the interests of our area in it's architecture - originally pretty - amazingly protected all over the centuries - and restored with care in its genuine style.
Since the buildings have been protected all over the centuries, in Quercy you will come across a myriad of styles still enriched with local particaliraties as far as the smallest townsare concerned. Hence, you will go, with a few kilometers, from a fortified roman church (St PIERRE TOIRAC), to renaissance buildings ( the ASSIER church and castle ) or to a medieval town with its busy shopping streets and its middle age merchant houses ( FIGEAC ).
But the Lot district, it's also a country architecture ( big farms, barns, shepherds' shelters ) which is particularly interesting. It's often from more ancient buildings ( dating from XVI th and XVII th centuries ) that modernizations or extensions have been made at the end of the XVIII th century because they corresponded to the wealth of the area at this time.
The buildings are rather large, always from luminous and warm-coloured stones, most of the time built with "pierre sèches" ( stones without concrete ). One or two pigeon houses give each farm a special elegance. The roofs are light and sharp to enable the "pierre sèche" walls to bear a roofing which was originally made with "lauzes" (stones)
The Villedieu Estate is one of the examples of this style and its integratiuon in the landscape is an evidence of it.
